“Spirit of Atlanta" is a perfect example of what makes Deborah Whitehouse’s murals so exceptional:  her ability to capture not only the appearance, but the essence of the communities she photographs.”

(Saturday Night Series) “The work of Deborah Wian Whitehouse has a beguiling quality.  It is the special way in which this artist captures light that imbues her work with the feeling of the surreal…”

The best image in the show, "Hot Dog Stand," shows a pale, miniskirted young woman leaning into the window of a temporary vending booth. The white fluorescent light from within strangely sets the interior of the booth apart from the exterior, which is bathed in an eerie yellow wash. A glowing sign atop the structure freakishly proclaims the words: "America's Favorite Fun Food: HOT DOGS!"
